More than four generations of Tacoma-area families have enjoyed the magnificent setting, the tasteful and elegant clubhouse, the championship golf course, the tennis courts and lakefront recreational facilities. Our club has been the "home away from home" for entire families, serving the needs of young and old.

Employees of Scottish firms began playing golf on the prairie lands of South Tacoma in 1892. By 1894 Alexander Baillie and a handful of others organized a club, leased 280 acres at Edison (South Tacoma) and built a clubhouse.

In 1904 the Tacoma Golf Club merged with the Tacoma Country Club on American Lake, and work began on a new course and clubhouse.

Having a rich history is pleasant. Building on that tradition is essential for success. The fact is that the club now plays a vital role in the social, recreational and business lives of its members.

When a family celebrates a joyous occasion, plans a quiet dinner, seeks recreation or organizes business meetings and seminars, the first thought is "the club". For many of us the major events of our lives are linked with the club. Everyday activities take on new meaning because of the charm and warmth of the club setting.
